Where We Start The Tour

​We meet next to the Promenade des Anglais right at the "Rusty Poles" sculpture. The French name is Neuf Lignes Oblique​ (see photo - it`s 30 meters tall, as high as a building).

You’ll find it on the paved island between the cycle lane and the car lane, perfectly positioned on the seafront between Beau Rivage and Opera beaches. It’s the perfect spot to start our stroll!

Your guide will be right at the Rusty Poles sculpture 5-10 min before the tour starts.

​Directions to our Meeting Point

  • From PLACE MASSENA tram stop (about 5 min)
    • At Place Massena tram stop look left, you’ll see a large square/piazza called Place Massena, paved in black & white, with a Fountain of Apollo in white marble, surrounded by green sculptures.
    • Beyond that you'll see the sea, and the building height Rusty poles sculpture called "Neuf Lignes Oblique".
    • Walk towards the fountain and then behind the fountain where you’ll see 4 stairs, go down the stairs and cross the road. You’ll be in Rue de’ l’Opera, keep walking down this street and immediately in front of you will be a Palm tree lined path.
    • You’ll walk on the Palm lined path called Esplanade Georges Pompidou and cross the road to the sea, Promenade des Anglais, and the Neuf Lignes Oblique Sculpture nicknamed "rusty poles" where we meet at 9.45am.
  • From GARE THIERS, NICE VILLE train station (about 20-30 min)
    • Get off at GARE THIERS, NICE VILLE, Station.
    • Walk out of the train station and turn LEFT. That road is called Ave Thiers.
    • Outside the station is the “Office de Tourisme” walk past it & downhill, on Ave Thiers.
    • Walk for 5-8 minutes, to the traffic lights, you’ll come to Ave Jean Medecin
    • At Ave Jean Medecin, on your LEFT is a TRAM STOP called GARE THIERS
    • Don’t cross the road to the other tram stop (pharmacy side).
    • At Gare Thiers Tram stop, buy a ticket for 1.50€ at the ticket dispensing machine (not a touch screen). (Coins only or cards, no notes/bills). Trams run every 4 mins.
    • Take the Hopital Pasteur tram. (The only tram that runs from there).
    • Stay on the tram for about 6-8 minutes.
    • The tram stations are, Gare Thiers (start), Jean Medecin (pass), Place Massena (Get off).
    • Go past Jean Medecin tram stop.
    • Get off at PLACE MASSENA tram stop.
